I haven’t decided yet if the new regulations from our governing body for next year will benefit me or not yet, but I am sure that I don’t like them! This is a pretty unanimous opinion from racers and is spearheaded by the blog of current world champ Ted Ligety, it’s well worth a check out for his opinion voiced this week; http://www.tedligety.com/

I hurt my back in training on Friday. At first I thought it was just a small pull but have since found out it’s a small tear in my erector spinae. After six days now I have had 8 physio sessions, 3 visits to the doctor, twice to the osteopath and once to hospital. Insurance better be ready for this!! I am aiming to go for a free-ski on Sunday and to resume full training on Monday. Some may blame it on the fluoro race suit I debued on Friday but I swear it’s two seconds faster.

The surgeon gave me the all clear to try and ski again on Tuesday!!!!!!    YAOWWWW!!!!!! I’m told I had stress fractures in my bone spur which have in time healed as the spur has reduced in size a bit. It’s very difficult to understand but basically as long as my boot doesnt rub anymore it shouldn’t (touch wood) be able to happen again. This has left the bone in my ankle weaker though so I’m taking it slowly. Trying to make sure I don’t over commit I’m just starting with a weeks skiing in Tignes, France, once again with the brilliant Emma Carrick-Anderson Continue Reading...

I got the invitation whilst I was in New Zealand so as I wasn’t skiing I was able to at least get a few weeks training for in for it, to be honest fairly similar training to how I would do for skiing anyway. It was a brutal day, taking five hours to test speed, power and (sigh) endurance. At the end of a long day they gave us the Yo-yo test, pretty similar to the beep test however you have small intervals between levels to also test how well recovery goes. I did ok considering I Continue Reading...

After three years of coming to NZ i finally saw what I wanted to see…  Penguins!!! I went to Twizel with Willis for a couple of days and we went to a place called Oamaru. It’s quite famous for it’s little blue penguins, and I went into the sanctuary to see them. They were mostly chilling in their little boxes but I’m sure they could hear me talking and if ever a penguin looked cute it is this type; a foot tall, blue and fluffy! haha Then the woman who was giving me a little tour mentioned we could see them properly in the wild 20 minutes down the road at Maoraki. We got Continue Reading...
