Bob Skeleton Trial

1

Yesterday I took part in a very organised trial laid on by Sport England, looking for talent for the future. I got the invitation whilst I was in New Zealand so as I wasn’t skiing I was able to at least get a few weeks training for in for it, to be honest fairly similar training to how I would do for skiing anyway. It was a brutal day, taking five hours to test speed, power and (sigh) endurance. At the end of a long day they gave us the Yo-yo test, pretty similar to the beep test however you have small intervals between levels to also test how well recovery goes. I did ok considering I was cream-crackered, level 40. I did crack up though when I saw one of the weightlifters doing a trial and getting level 2! ahaha! A few of the more interesting things I found out include:

Countermovement Jump: 51.3 cm

Standing long jump: 242.4cm

Peak Power output on Bike: 1260watts

40Metre sprint 5.30seconds

Hey Max, sounds like a great effort there, nice to hear your aerobic capacity is a bit better than a weight-lifters!!
