Today I went for a Ski however I only lasted two runs due to the pain from my ankle. I have now had the boot ‘Blown’ out four times and ‘ground down’ twice on the inside. Apparently the only remedy now is time so I will not try to ski until next Thursday. In the meantime I’ll get plenty more physio work, including ultrasound (I don’t know who the Daddy is!) and some form of electrocution that I like to turn up so my leg jumps around a bit! Haha. I’ve also seen a Podiatrist who will cut and shave ‘air blown rubber’ pieces to put in my boot to support the ankle. Fingers Crossed!!

The Feasey’s were invited to a friend’s birthday up on the West Coast at Haast last night.  Ever fantastic they kindly took me with them and offered to show me around a bit as well. We arrived and had a cool time partying in an aeroplane hangar on the airfield stuffed with Crayfish, firewood and Booze (what more could you ask for haha!!) I tried to race on Friday but I just wasn’t comfortable enough with my damaged bone spur to focus on my skiing. So I pulled from the second run and the race the next day and am having today and tomorrow away from boots still, training in the gym though. With the snow having finally come good now it’s a really frustrating time to be missing out on. Then I will get back on snow Tuesday, with Super-G training on Wednesday and Thursday before heading up to the East Coast for the races in Mt Hutt on Saturday and Sunday. They are the final part of the races for the 100% New Zealand Winter Games, Continue Reading...

I went for an unexpected scenic flight around Lake Wanaka and the area today which was awesome. As congratulations for winning the races at Cardrona my homeboy Wills was offered a flight and +1 from the lovely Susie Austen. Of course knowing where his loyalties lay he took me and we had an awesome flight on such a bright and sunny day at the mountains (and sheep) in this bit of Otago. Thank you very much Willis and Susie!!

Having spent most of this week training and racing as the Cardrona HPC team we decided to do the peak to peak challenge from the top of Remarkables ski area down through Queenstown and up through to Coronet Peak Ski field. The five relay legs were Skiing, Downhill Mountain biking, Kayaking, Running and Road biking. I got lucky to do the skiing leg and was doing well in 4th (of 129 racing) until I hit something and crashed a treat. It took ages to get my skis back in the off-piste and I finally arrived at the handover 7 minutes after the first!! Still it was an awesome day and I’m sure knowing Continue Reading...
